The 3rd Annual High Level Forum for Regional Integration Reasonable Utilization of the Nile has kicked off today, Saturday (June15) in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.
Happening at Skylight Hotel, the Summit is expected to be a springboard to propel equitable and reasonable utilization of the Nile through promotion and exchange of experiences and scientific researches as well as sharing of best practices and experiences of the Nile governance and utilization across the Nile Basin Region.

Delegates from Tanzania, DR Congo Uganda, Kenya, and South Sudan, representatives from various water institutes and high-level guests are attending.
The conference held under the theme Shared Resources for Shared Future and Prosperity: Cooperation and Regional Integration through Equitable and Reasonable Utilization of the Nile”, will serve as a platform where experts and policymakers will deliberate on the immense benefits a fair and equitable utilization of the Nile.

It will create an opportunity to further deliberate on how to better manage and utilize the Nile to ensure sustainable development.
H.E. Dr. Sultan Welle, Ethiopia’s State Minister of Water and Energy, will give the opening statement before a keynote speech by H.E Ambassador Misganu Arega, the country’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Affairs Ministers from Uganda, DR Congo, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan will also address the participants.

Three panels of discussion will then be held under the themes:
- Water governance: CFA After 14 years, where We are
- Hydropower for Regional Integration and Cooperation
- Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies for the Nile Basin
