The police in Gulu district are holding twelve people on allegations of theft from Angaya Health Centre III. Among the suspects is Francis Okello Okot, a watchman at Angaya Health Centre III, along with eleven casual workers who were assigned to carry out renovations at the health center.

They are accused of breaking into the health center on Monday night and stealing two solar batteries, a wall clock, and two keys for the maternity mini-facility and dispensary room. According to Okot, who was on duty that night he became suspicious when he noticed that the lights were off around 3:30 a.m.

This prompted him to patrol the premises. To his astonishment, he discovered that the maternity ward had been broken into, and the items were already missing. David Ongom Mudong, the West Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, said that the case was promptly reported to the police.

Detectives visited the scene and identified the individuals as prime suspects. He revealed that a case of breaking and theft, under reference CRB: 360/2023, is currently under investigation at the Gulu District Central Police Station. The operations at the health facility have continued without disruption since the majority of those arrested were casual workers.
