President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on Thursday confirmed his attendance at this year’s C-10 summit which will be held in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on November 23 this year.

The President made the confirmation after receiving an official invitation from his Equatorial Guinea counterpart, H.E Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

“I will definitely come and attend the summit,” President Museveni confirmed.

The invitation letter was delivered by Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora, Mr. Simeón Oyono Esono Angue at State House Entebbe.

The Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government (C10) Championing Education, Science and Technology in Africa was instituted by the AU in 2016 after noting that education, science, technology and innovation remain the primary instruments that will enable Africa to effectively implement its long-term vision of a transformative Agenda 2063, in spite of the challenges facing its development.

In his reply, Mr. Esono said that it will be an honor to have the President at the summit because he is not only a member of the C-10 but also a very relevant leader whom many will benefit to hear from.

“We are looking forward to seeing you at the summit, you are a true father of Pan-Africanism so we will be very grateful to learn a lot from you,” he added.

C-10 has a mandate to support the implementation of Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa and ensure that Science, Technology and Innovation can be used to drive Africa’s economic growth agenda.

President Museveni is among the heads of state of the African Union Committee of the Ten on the reforms of the United Nations (UN) security council. The committee of the ten countries comprises of Algeria, Libya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Namibia and Zambia.
