Police in Sheema District are investigating circumstances under which a senior six student of Kitagata Senior Secondary School who went missing was found dead.
Caption Rumanzi, 23 a resident of Kitagata Town Council in Sheema district was reported missing on Monday by the Deputy headteacher Asaph Mwije.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi regional Police spokesperson says that Rumanzi was last seen on the school premises on Sunday.
According to the police statement by Mwije, the school management tried searching for Rumanzi, in vain. This prompted the school administration to report a case of a missing person.
Tumusiime says that Rumanzi’s body was on Wednesday discovered in the school pit latrine that had collapsed on the day the student disappeared.
Elly Biryomumaisho the Headteacher of Kitagata Secondary School said that the incident briefkt disrupted the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education-UACE exams.
Tumusiime says that the body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata Hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the parents for burial.
