Parliament is set to hold a special sitting on Monday to pay tribute to the late Dokolo district woman representative, Hon. Cecilia Ogwal, according to Speaker Hon. Anita Among.
The Speaker revealed that the house will receive her body on Monday morning for viewing. This formalized program according to Among was developed in consultation with the family and stakeholders, with an aim of giving a dignified send-off to the departed lawmaker.

Hon. Among emphasized the Parliamentary Commission’s role in coordinating burial arrangements and highlighted that it’s a longstanding tradition for Parliament to organize the farewell of a sitting lawmaker.
“This responsibility is grounded in Section 6 of The Administration of Parliament Act 2007 (as amended),” she quoted.
The late Cecilia Ogwal, a legendary figure, passed away at the age of 77 in an Indian hospital where she was undergoing treatment for a cancer-related illness on Thursday.
The official program, as outlined by Speaker Among, includes a church service at Ogwal’s home in Alito on January 26, followed by the burial ceremony starting at 9 am on January 27.
