Nangolo Mbumba, 82, takes oath as Namibia’s fourth president following the passing of Dr. Hage G. Geingob at lady Pohamba Hospital on Sunday morning.
Nangolo Mbumba has been serving as the vice president of Namibia since 2018.
The ceremony, led by Lordship Peter Shivute, witnessed dignitaries and military officials at the country’s state house on Sunday afternoon.
According to the constitution, Mbumba will serve the remaining 10 months of Geingob’s term until elections later this year.
Additionally, Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah becomes Namibia’s first female Vice President in the same event.
The late Dr. Hage, a revered figure, is remembered for his service, role in the liberation struggle, and contribution to the nation’s constitution.
