Lieutenant General Sam Okiding, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, has commended the longstanding and historic ties between Uganda and Zimbabwe, highlighting the shared experiences and commonalities that bind the two nations.
Lt. Gen. Okiding acknowledged Zimbabwe’s significant role in the professional development of many officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), noting that Zimbabwe has hosted numerous training courses for them.
He made these remarks while addressing the Directing Staff and Student Officers attending the Joint Command and Staff Course from the Zimbabwe Staff College during their visit to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya.
Group Captain Morris Mujikwa, head of the delegation, emphasized that comprehensive security is essential for the survival of humanity. He underscored the importance of collaboration among African countries through regional frameworks, advocating for a unified approach to addressing common challenges.
Also present at the event were the Chief of Joint Staff, Major General Jack Bakasumba, along with other Joint Staff and Senior Officers of the UPDF.
