John Cossy Odomel, a former Inspector General of Police has died.

This, according to Captain Mike Mukula, the NRM Vice Chairperson Eastern Uganda.

“I am deeply saddened to announce the demise of our Patriot and former inspector general of police (IGP) JOHN COSSY ODOMEL (RIP) who has just passed on,” said Mukula on Tuesday.

Without giving further details, Mukula said further details will be shared in the due course.

The deceased was the second last none-military occupant of the office of the IGP between 1992 and 1998. He joined the Uganda Police Force in 1980.

At the start of 1999, Odomel disclosed that he was directed by President Yoweri Museveni to resign from his post.
