A supporter of Incumbent Nakaseke North member of Parliament collapsed and died at polling station during declaration of results.
The deceased has been identified as Living Kuhonda a lawyer and resident of Gomero village in Ngoma town council who was also a known supporter of the incumbent Nakaseke North MP Enock Nyongore.
Its reported that Kuhonda died after engaging in a heated debate with Kanye Kavigi a supporter of Philip Ndamira Tumukunde another candidate in the race at Gomero polling station on Thursday shortly after elections.
Sam Twiineamazima the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying police was called and recorded statements from the other voters to aid into the investigation on the cause of death.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the entire community during this difficult time. The dead body was handed over the family after postmortem to aid in the investigations” Twiineamazima said.
Meanwhile Voting ended peacefully in 442 villages in Nakaseke district .
However, in Butebere village in Kyinyogoga Sub County, a candidate Ndamira Phillip allegedly attempted to destroy the voter register and threatened voters forcing the polling officials to cancel the polls.
In Kijjumba village in Ngoma Sub County, Rtd. Col. Kayambi is also reported to have threatened voters and the election were called off.
In Nakasongola, NRM primaries were successfully held in 355 out of 360 villages.
But the voting was suspended in the five villages due to irregularities in the voter registers. The affected villages include Kikooge ,Kiloro ,Katasenywa ,Kirabyoya and Central Cell in Nakasongola Town Council.
In Luwero district, primaries were conducted in all 624 villages despite delays and missing names of voters on the register.
But in Makulubita and Ndejje sub-counties, supporters of Katikamu South MP candidate Mugisha Marvin grabbed and destroyed declaration forms.
Police intervened and arrested the suspects before transferring them to Luwero Central Police Station for further investigation.
