Kazo Police are holding one of their own and a woman over an alleged conspiracy to commit murder. Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and identified the suspects as Inspector of Police (IP) Steven Bebaze, the Community Liaison Officer at Kazo Central Police Station, and Zam Kyokuhaire.

They are accused of plotting to kill Kyokuhaire’s husband, Kasim Musinguzi. According to Kasasira, the pair was arrested after two men they had allegedly hired to carry out the murder — identified as Hadad Kabito and Akim Mutahi — reported the plot to the police. Kasasira explained that the two suspects had paid 1.3 million shillings to Kabito and Mutahi to execute the mission.

However, after receiving the money from Bebaze, Kabito, a taxi tout on the Kazo–Mpara route, confided in Mutahi, who also serves as chairperson of the Kazo–Mubende stage, and together they decided to report the matter to the authorities.

Kasasira added that Bebaze is currently detained at the Rwizi Region Police Headquarters, while Kyokuhaire is being held at Kazo Police Station as investigations continue.

The whistleblowers, Kabito and Mutahi, narrated to our reporter how the plan was exposed and how the money exchanged hands.

When contacted, Kasim Musinguzi, a taxi driver operating along the Mpara–Kazo route, said he was unaware of his wife’s alleged infidelity and the sinister plot until the plan was uncovered.
