The Common Man’s Party (CMP) presidential flag bearer, Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga, has failed to show up for his scheduled campaign rallies in Kabale and Rukungiri Districts. According to the Electoral Commission’s campaign program, Munyagwa was expected to campaign in Kabale on Tuesday and Rukungiri on Wednesday.
However, he did not appear in either district. Efforts by journalists to reach Munyagwa for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not answer his phone and later switched it off.
On Wednesday evening, while addressing journalists in Mbarara City, Munyagwa expressed uncertainty about proceeding to Kabale, explaining that his campaign vehicles had developed mechanical problems requiring specialized repair. It remains unclear whether the CMP candidate will proceed to Kisoro District, where he is scheduled to campaign on Thursday.
Munyagwa is among the eight presidential candidates in the 2026 general election, contesting against incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the NRM, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the NUP, James Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the FDC, Gregory Mugisha Muntu Oyera of the ANT, Robert Kasibante of the National Peasants’ Party, Elton Joseph Mabirizi of the Conservative Party, and Frank Burira Kavinga of the Revolutionary People’s Party.
