Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, has pleaded with the police officers to stop tormenting him and his supporters.

Since the start of the nationwide campaign trail, dozens of Kyagulanyi’s supporters have been arrested by police. Various charges have been proffered against the supporters.  

Before the start of his campaign in Rubanda and Kisoro districts on Tuesday,  Kyagulanyi first held a talk show on Kabale-based Voice of Kigezi radio, where he rallied the electorate to vote for him.  

But during the talk show, police officers chased away boda boda riders and other people who had gathered outside the radio waiting to look at him as he left the radio. 

Addressing a rally at Hamurwa trading centre in Hamurwa Town council and Murore in Rubanda town council, Rubanda district, Kyagulanyi appealed to police officers to reduce the level of tormenting because the struggle to change leadership in Uganda is also targeting to benefit the security department.  

Kyagulanyi says that once voted into power, he will increase the salaries of security officers, and officers will be required to respect the rights of Ugandan citizens. 

Kyagulanyi also promised to improve roads, construct value addition factories to boost agriculture output, especially Irish potatoes,s once voted into power.
