The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has assured visitors and tourism stakeholders that the country remains peaceful, secure and fully open for tourism despite the ongoing election cycle.
Ugandans will cast their ballots in the presidential and parliamentary elections next week on Thursday January 15.
Eight presidential candidates, including incumbent Yoweri Museveni and opposition aspirant Bobi Wine, are vying for the presidency.
In a press release dated January 9, 2025, UTB said tourism activities across the country are proceeding normally, with no disruptions reported in national parks, wildlife reserves, cultural sites, cities, or hospitality establishments.
Hotels, lodges, tour operators, attractions and transport services continue to operate as usual, benefiting from what UTB described as a calm and stable environment nationwide.
The Board noted that the Government of Uganda has put in place adequate security measures to guarantee the safety of both citizens and visitors, particularly during the election period.
UTB added that it is working closely with relevant government agencies and private sector players to ensure seamless visitor experiences throughout the country.
UTB encouraged tourists planning to visit “The Pearl of Africa” to proceed with their travel arrangements as scheduled, emphasizing that Uganda remains a safe and welcoming destination.
Visitors were further advised to rely on UTB’s official website and verified social media platforms for timely and accurate updates related to tourism operations.
