Heavy deployments and roadblocks in Old Kampala have paralyzed traffic flow ahead of presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi’s rally in Kampala capital city, expected to take place in Old Kampala.

But the military and police have blocked several roads.

Different armed forces personnel as well trucks  have been deployed at the junctions heading to Old Kampala a few meters from Ham Building along Makerere hill road.

All roads from Kiseka market joining old Kampala at the junction near Aga Khan  Secondary school and Aga Khan University are all filled with police and military.

Vehicles from the Makerere side heading to Old Kampala have been diverted to Kisekka yet Kiseka area roads are also blocked hence causing congestion.

After being rejected by Aga Khan University,  National Unity Platform have decided to host Kyagulanyi’s rally at a washing bay which doubles as a garage near old Kampala police station.

However,  accessibility to the venue is challenging to drivers including pedestrians because of soldiers and police officers manning the roads.

All soldiers are armed not only with rifles but also batons. Field Force Unit alongside General Duty personnel are also conducting foot patrols in Kisekka market and surrounding places while some of the military personnel are standing at building balcons.
