The Police in East Kyoga Regional Police have arrested Gerald Otukei Oyuu over the murder of Hussein Omongole Godi, the LC1 Defence Secretary for Usuk cell in Kichinjaji ward, Soroti City.
Oyuu, the prime suspect believed to be involved in the tragic death of Omongole, who was found murdered in his home in Kichinjaji ward on October 27, 2025.
Omongole’s lifeless body was discovered by neighbors after they noticed his door was ajar and there was no response when they called out to him.
According to Ibrahim Saiga, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Otukei’s arrest brings the total number of suspects detained in connection with Omongole’s murder to six. “These individuals are currently assisting our investigations by providing information regarding the circumstances surrounding Omongole’s death,” Saiga stated.
Oyuu, who had been evading capture since the incident, was reportedly hiding and frequently changing locations to avoid law enforcement.
”He has been hiding from us, but we managed to smoke him out of his hideout. He is now in custody and will face murder charges,” Saiga confirmed.
In addition to the murder charge, Saiga revealed that Oyuu has multiple active cases against him, including charges of defilement and possession of opium.
“These additional charges will be addressed as we pursue justice for Hussein Omongole and ensure that all those involved in this heinous act are held accountable,” Saiga stressed.
