More than 80 visually impaired pupils at Ikwera Primary School in Kwania District are sharing a single toilet block with teachers.
The school Head Teacher, Joseph Ogwal, raised the concern on Friday during the commissioning of a renovated ICT laboratory by Oysters and Pearls Uganda, a Gulu City-based non-governmental organisation.
Ogwal said 84 visually impaired pupils are currently sharing a two-stance toilet block with 28 teachers at the school.

Kwania District Education Officer Andrew Omunu said the district has already allocated a modern two-stanza toilet facility specifically for the visually impaired learners.
Ikwera Primary School is an inclusive, government-aided Catholic-founded institution located in Aduku Town Council along the Aduku–Apac Highway.
In the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), 97 pupils sat for exams at the school. Of these, 14 passed in Division One, 81 in Division Two, and three in Division Three.
Among the 17 visually impaired candidates, three passed in Division One while 14 obtained Division Two.
