Uganda U-17 National Team (Cubs) head coach Laryea Kingston has outlined the team’s pre-tournament preparations ahead of the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 that kicks off on 13th May, 2026.
The Cubs who fly out this evening, will hold a training camp in Casablanca, Morocco as they fine-tune their preparations. The build-up programme includes two international friendly matches designed to sharpen the team’s tactical approach and overall match readiness.

Uganda will take on Mozambique on 5th May before facing Mali on 9th May as part of the preparatory schedule.
Kingston expressed confidence in the team’s progress and growing understanding of the technical approach.
‘There is more room for improvement, but from where we are, we have so much confidence in the team. Whatever we ask them to do, they are doing it now as the boys are taking responsibility. They are finding solutions and solving problems on the pitch. For me, we are moving in the right direction.’
On the final phase of preparations, Kingston stressed the need to refine the team’s game plan while maintaining physical sharpness.
‘We will use the remaining time to assess our opponents and test our approach in the friendly matches. We want the boys to be sharp in the preparatory games and remain fresh for the tournament.’
The technical team will utilise the camp to build cohesion, refine tactical organisation and ensure the players reach optimal condition ahead of the tournament.
Uganda is in Group B alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and DR Congo.
