Police is investigating circumstances under which a student of Kangai Secondary School was murdered in Amolatar District. So far, five people have been arrested to aid with investigations.
16 year- old Kenneth Odon, a senior one student was on Sunday morning allegedly waylaid by unknown assailants who stabbed him to death at Abedober, Arowtcek Sub County in Amolatar district. Reports indicate that Odon had earlier had a disagreement with some friends over a girl they met at a dance party in Akol, near Arowtcek Primary School.
It is believed that the boys followed him on his way home and stabbed him to death. Magwar Obonyo, the deputy RDC Amolatar confirmed the incident saying five suspects have been arrested to aid with the investigation, although the main suspect is still at large. He advised children to resist peer pressure which may land them in trouble, and parents to be responsible for their children.
“Parents should counsel and caution their children to come back early because the nights are dangerous.”Sam Nyang, Odon’s grandfather confirmed that his grandson was in the company of a friend at the time of the incident. He added that the other victim only identified as Okot also sustained deep cut injuries on the back.
Moses Aboko, the LC3 chairperson of Arwotcek who was the first person to reach the scene told police that the assailants seemed to have tried to save their victim but he died before reaching the nearby clinic, thus forcing them to dump the body near his home.Odon joined Kangai Secondary School in Dokolo this year from Abaler Primary school where he sat for his Primary Leaving Examination.
Joel Okello, the head teacher Kangai SS described Odon’s death as great loss to the school.“As a school family, we are devastated by this loss,” he said. “Kenneth was a valued member of our Senior One class, and his presence will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers, and the entire community.”
He becomes the second student murdered this year, the first being Solomon Lukori, a 21-year-old Senior Four student at Abongomola Seed Secondary School in Kwania District.
Lukori was murdered in a suspected mob attack by fellow students on April 29, 2026 following allegations of theft of student’s properties. URN
