Steel & Tube Industries Ltd has won two awards at the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair, recognising its contribution to Uganda’s manufacturing and construction sector.
The company was named Best Sector Exhibitor in Building, Construction and Housing Technology and also received an Appreciation Award as an InKind Partner of the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair.
The awards were presented by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), organisers of the annual trade fair, which brings together manufacturers, traders, service providers and buyers from Uganda and beyond.
Speaking during the event, Steel & Tube Industries Director of Operations Regina Namuwonge said the company’s participation was guided by a commitment to making its products affordable to Ugandan consumers.
“You buy from the people who make and distribute the goods at the most affordable price,” Namuwonge said, adding that the company’s offers and discounts were designed with Ugandan consumers in mind.
She also acknowledged the role played by government agencies, partners and sponsors in supporting the trade fair.
“A trade fair of this size is carried by many hands,” she said. “There are many players in this trade fair, and we thank the various ministerial bodies and agencies who support us behind it.”
Steel & Tube also showcased its locally made trailer to Trade Minister Sanjay Tanna during the exhibition, highlighting the company’s expanding range of locally manufactured products.
The company thanked UMA for the recognition and its customers, partners and employees for their continued support.
Steel & Tube Industries traces its roots to 1985 when Hardware Deals (U) Ltd began trading imported steel products before merging with Steel and Tube Industries Ltd.
Today, the company manufactures and supplies steel products for construction and building projects and is among the largest steel manufacturers in East Africa.
Its product range includes steel bars, hollow sections, open profiles, wire products, roofing products, smart tanks, plates and structural steel. The company also manufactures trailers and pre-engineered buildings at its factory in Namanve Industrial Area.
The 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair is part of Uganda’s efforts to promote local manufacturing, strengthen business linkages and expand markets for locally produced goods.
