Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has directed the urgent rehabilitation of the Mityana–Mubende–Kyegegwa–Kyenjojo highway, citing its deplorable condition and critical importance to road users.
Speaking during a visit to the area, Among revealed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had offered her a helicopter for the trip, but she deliberately chose to travel by road to personally assess the situation.

“After learning about the poor condition of this road, I decided to use it myself instead of flying, and I can confirm that it urgently requires rehabilitation,” she said.
Among instructed the Minister of Finance, who accompanied her, to secure funds within two weeks to enable commencement of works without further delay.
“This road is a vital link for trade, transport, and service delivery. Government cannot afford to delay its rehabilitation any longer,” she emphasized.
The Mityana–Mubende–Kyegegwa–Kyenjojo road is a key transport corridor connecting central to western Uganda. Its deterioration has long been a concern for motorists, traders, and local communities.
