South Africa’s home-based national team, Bafana Bafana, is en route to Uganda ahead of the much-anticipated TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025.
This year’s 8th edition of CHAN is historic, as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are co-hosting the tournament for the first time.
Bafana Bafana’s arrival completes Group C, which features Uganda (hosts), Guinea, and Algeria. South Africa will play their first match at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, as the group stage kicks off.

CHAN, exclusive to players active in their domestic leagues, will feature 19 countries this year, after the tournament was shifted from 2024 to 2025.
The championship is already off to a lively start, with Tanzania delighting home fans yesterday in Dar es Salaam. The Taifa Stars defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, setting the tone for a thrilling competition across East Africa.
With Group C now complete and the first match kicking off tomorrow in Kampala, the battle for a place in the knockout stages is set to ignite Namboole with East African football passion.
