Musician-turned-politician Mayanja Ibrahim, popularly known as Big Eye, has dismissed as false claims that he has withdrawn from the Nansana Municipality parliamentary race under the National Unity Platform (NUP).

In an official statement issued Friday, Mayanja accused one of his rivals of spreading “pure propaganda” through radio and television, alleging that he had pulled out of the contest. He assured supporters that he remains firmly in the race.

“Let me be very clear: I am fully in this race and not stepping down,” Mayanja said, urging his supporters to ignore what he described as “lies and confusion.”

The NUP aspirant emphasized that his campaign continues to gain momentum and called on his base to stay focused. “We are gaining strength every day, and together, we are moving toward victory,” he added.

The clarification comes as NUP gears up to start its vetting exercise for parliamentary aspirants on Monday, September 15, a process expected to attract significant attention as the party seeks to consolidate strong candidates ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Mayanja, who joined NUP earlier this year, is among several prominent figures including Journalist Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa seeking to unseat the incumbent in the hotly contested Nansana Municipality seat.
