Busujju County MP David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga and a number of other leaders and supporters of opposition political party National Unity Platform (NUP) have been arrested in Kayunga.

Plus News has learnt that the group is currently detained at Nazigo Police station.

Details regarding the identity of other people arrested and the cause are currently unknown.

The leaders are in the area in preparation for by-elections for the District chairperson to be conducted later today. Tight competition is between NUP’s Harriet Nakweede and NRM’s Andrew Muwonge.
