Residents of Bundibugyo Town are in shock after discovering the body of the District NRM party registrar Robert Kifunga Aguma in a bush.
He was also the secretary for NRM registrars in the country.
Aguma’s body was discovered by children around 12:00PM Saturday dumped near Bimara stream in Kanyansimbi Ward Bundibugyo Town Council.
The children who had gone to fetch water then alerted the area LC1.
The chairperson Bimara cell, Bisimo Godi said after reaching the scene he alerted police who picked the body and took it to Bundibugyo General Hospital.
The NRM commissioner Jane Alisemera Babiiha, said the shocking death of the registrar is a big loss to the district and the entire NRM fraternity.
She called for calm among residents and urged police to expedite the process of investigating circumstances under which Kifunga died.
However, according to area residents, they suspect the victim could have been strangled to death noting that the body was well dressed up and with no sign of scuffle on the scene.
Police heads in the district said they are not yet ready to issue a statement at the moment of filing the story.
The body was on Saturday afternoon picked from Bundibugyo hospital and taken to Fort portal regional referral hospital for a postmortem.
