The former vice president, Dr. Specioiza Wandira Kazibwe, was rushed to Jinja Hospital on Sunday night after being involved in a motor vehicle accident along the Kayunga-Njeru road in Buikwe District.
Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson Helen Butoto confirmed that Dr. Kazibwe was traveling with her 17-year-old grandson, Igapira Wandika when the accident occurred.
The incident happened after the front tire of their Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number UG2372M, burst while traveling from Kayunga towards Njeru.
Police reported that the tire rupture caused the driver, Fred Kayunga, to lose control of the vehicle. The car then veered off the road and collided with a pole in the Wakisi area.
