Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, popularly known as Salim Saleh, has openly told musicians who frequent his base in Gulu City for financial assistance to immediately stop it.
Apparently, the four star General and president Yoweri Museveni’s brother, says he is tired of the group because they lack both cohesion and organisation.
Saleh who was speaking at a trade fair in Gulu, attended by several musicians explained that the group has become disruptive to his daily engagements.
“I am tired of you, Musicians. This, I have to put it on record. Can you imagine I have not even gotten time to meet the NRM people?” Gen Saleh who also coordinates Operation Wealth Creation Program said on Monday.
“Because, in the morning, I am meeting Buchaman, In the afternoon, I am meeting Ragga Dee and in the evening I am meeting another musician, when will I have time to work on other people? Just wasting my time”.
“I have told you I am done with with. I have tried to do as much as possible. You lack organisation, you lack cohesion, you lack training. This time, you are not remaining in Gulu. I have no breathing space,” he added.
Last month, Gen Saleh expressed concern over the increasing number of musicians traveling to Gulu for Christmas festivities.
In a handwritten letter dated November 17, Saleh, called upon Eddy Kenzo, to address the issue.
“Presidential Advisor, creatives and president Uganda National Musicians Federation. Please handle musicians who are flocking to Gulu for Xmas festivities shows. They are interfering with my work in Northern Uganda,” Gen Salrh wrote.
Kenzo, doubles as a presidential advisor on creatives and the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).
Following Gen. Saleh’s concerns, the leadership of OWC also issued a statement emphasizing the importance of collaboration within the creative industry.
They called on stakeholders, particularly the UNMF and the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), to align their activities with national priorities.
