Grace Kalaya, the Deputy head teacher of Kaliro Church of Uganda primary school has been killed. He was killed alongside her son, Ishubuka Mutaka on Thursday.
It is alleged that the two were attacked by an unknown gang wielding machetes at around 7:00 pm, while returning from the school garden near the Kaliro district headquarters, along the Kaliro-Nawaikoke road.
Kalaya died on the spot, while Mutaka was confirmed dead on arrival at Iganga General Hospital.
Robert Kategere, the head teacher says that he last saw the deceased at around 5:00 pm after a meeting with the primary seven candidates.
Kategere suspects that Kalaya could have been killed by criminal gangs in Kaliro town council, who have been targeting civil servants. Kategere wants police to tighten security in the area.
The Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha says that a manhunt for the suspects is ongoing.
