The government has constructed a health centre III in Akoromit Sub County. 

Akoromit Health Centre III will serve a population of over 30,000 people. 

The facility worth 1.2 billion shillings was constructed under the Government program of UGIFT to bridge the gap of shortage of health services in the sub-county.   This health facility comes along with two staff houses and seven professional staff.   

The Assistant District Health Officer of Kapelebyong district, Jude Olebe notes that residents in Akoromit Sub County have been depending on Acowa Health CentresIII and Kapelebyong Health Centre IV, which are more than seven kilometres away.   

He said that the construction of the Health Centers is in line with the Government’s Health  Policy of having a Health Center III in every Sub County.

“We shall conduct immunization services, and maternal health care among others, “Olebe said.

Martin Luther Okwalinga, the LCIII Chairperson of Akoromit Sub County says that residents in the sub-county have been suffering for over twelve years without a health facility.    

Janet Aciro, a resident of Asilo village says this will now help the community access various health services. 

Vivian Opus, an expectant mother says they have been looking for maternal services from other health centres which are distant.  She hailed the government for thinking about the people of Kanungu adding that the construction of a new health unit will greatly improve the health standards of the community.

However, the Kapelebyong district LCV chairperson, Francis Akorikin commended his district council for lobbying and allocating such bigger projects in the district.
