Kenya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfred Mutua, has mourned Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles, Dr. Hassan Waswa Galiwango, who died on Monday morning.
“My condolences to the President, Government and the people of Uganda on the passing of Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, who passed away this morning in Nairobi Hospital. My deepest sympathies to his family. Rest In Peace Ndugu,” Mutua said on Monday.
Galiwango passed in a hospital in Kenya’s Capital Nairobi where he was rushed on Thursday last week when his condition deteriorated.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed the passing of Dr. Galiango at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya in a statement signed by the Head of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Charles Ssentongo.
“He passed on this morning Jan 16th, 2023 at Nairobi Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment,” Ssentongo said in a brief statement.
Dr. Galiwango, who has been battling heart complications was initially admitted at Mulago National Specialised Hospital.
Prior to his appointment as ambassador, Dr. Galiwango served as the Director of Finance at the National Resistance Movement-NRM party Secretariat.
He also served as Mbale Resident District Commissioner and Mbale Industrial Division LC III Chairperson.
Dr. Galiwango is also the proprietor of Mbale Progressive Secondary School, the pioneer private secondary school in Mbale city.
He is also the husband of Mbale city Woman Member of Parliament, Connie Nakayenze Galiwango.
