Police in Kibaale are holding a woman accused of killing her husband, Onesmas Twijukye, following a domestic dispute over a radio set. The suspect, whose identity police have withheld to avoid compromising investigations, allegedly hacked Twijukye, 30, to death with a panga at their home in Omurugoro village, Bubango sub-county.

The fatal incident occurred on Tuesday after Twijukye reportedly sold his wife’s radio set without her consent, sparking a violent quarrel. According to Uganda Radio Network (URN), the argument escalated when the woman allegedly picked up a panga and attacked her husband, striking his head several times and killing him on the spot.

“We heard him screaming for help, but by the time we arrived, he was lying dead in a pool of blood,” said James Tulinde, a resident. Kibaale police responded to the scene promptly, arrested the suspect, and took her into custody at Kibaale Central Police Station.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and said murder charges have already been filed. He added that the deceased’s body was transported to Kibaale Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police in Kagadi have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 25-year-old boda boda rider.

The deceased, identified as Gerald Muhumuza from Kibuga village, Rugashali sub-county, reportedly went missing Monday night after being called by an unidentified person for a ride. His body was discovered Tuesday morning by the roadside with visible bruises around the neck, suggesting strangulation. Hakiza confirmed the incident and noted that Muhumuza’s body was taken to Kagadi General Hospital for a postmortem. He urged the public to assist police with information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible. “These are serious crimes, and we call on residents to cooperate with investigators,” Hakiza said.
