The National Unity Platform’s Presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, has asked the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanjja, to come out and explain the whereabouts of missing political activist, John Bosco Kibalama.

Kyagulanyi made the demands at the burial of Monica Nabukeera Catherine Kibalama, whose body was discovered in her bathroom early in the week. John Bosco Kibalama has been missing since 2019.

Kyagulanyi, speaking at the burial in Mbarara, urged citizens to refrain from inheriting and sharing hate amongst themselves.

He said that no Ugandan should run to exile because of the furious acts being committed by the current regime.

Kyagulanyi emphasized that the resilience that Nabukeera had in searching for her husband will not be in vain, stating that one day the truth will come to light.

In 2023, while appearing in Parliament, Nabanja said that Kibalama was in government custody on charges related to the Luwero murders, but later withdrew the statement after opposition MPs asked her for more details.

The Kampala metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, last week told the media that the cause of death of Nabukenya was yet to be known since reports from the postmortem were yet to be released.

Gertrude Namuyiga, the sister, said that Nabukeera had a strong heart and love for everyone, but loved her children more to the extent that they never missed their father.

She said that they are still puzzled about what killed her, noting that she was never sick.

Barigye David, the brother of the deceased, expressed concern about the way Nabukeera died, noting that she bathed her children and dressed them to take them to the hospital, only to be found in the bathroom dead.

“She was strong that she could fight whoever confronted her, but the way she died is questionable,” he said.

Nabukeera has left behind two children, Noelyn Kibalama and Samuel Kibalama, who said they loved their mother and wished her to rest in peace.

George Saali, the Biharwe Parish priest,  asked believers to prioritize their health and prepare for sudden deaths.

Monica Nabukeera Kibalama, who was found dead in her house at the start of this week, was laid to rest at her ancestors’ home in Biharwe, Mbarara city.
