The Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, has rallied regional commanders to intensify the fight against crime, urging discipline, professionalism, and stronger coordination in operations across the country.
Speaking during a quarterly meeting of Regional CID Commanders at the CID Headquarters, Kibuli, Magambo said the directorate must remain firm and proactive in addressing criminality in all its forms.

“We must fight criminality in all forms. We must coordinate closely with other sister agencies, engage communities to fight crime, keep track of the discipline of those below us, and remain professional in handling our work,” Magambo said.
The meeting reviewed progress on ongoing nationwide operations aimed at combating crime and strengthening investigative effectiveness.
Magambo emphasised that community engagement and inter-agency cooperation remain critical pillars in sustaining recent gains in law enforcement.

Under his leadership, the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Uganda Police Force has undergone notable reforms aimed at improving efficiency and public trust.
CID has strengthened intelligence-led investigations, enhanced detective training, and improved internal supervision to boost professionalism and accountability.
The directorate has also embraced data-driven policing, including steps toward establishing a dedicated crime data analysis centre to improve case tracking and evidence-based investigations.

Additionally, the introduction of public reporting channels and structured community outreach programmes has widened citizen participation in crime prevention.
Recent annual crime reports have indicated improvements in case management and reductions in certain categories of crime, developments police leadership partly attributes to CID’s restructuring and tighter coordination between regional commands.

Magambo reaffirmed that sustaining progress will depend on discipline within the ranks and continued collaboration with communities, noting that effective investigations begin with public trust and professional conduct.
The quarterly review concluded with renewed commitments from regional commanders to implement the Director’s directives and strengthen crime-fighting efforts nationwide.
