Police in Mbale City have finally arrested 35-year-old Musitafa Kaziba alias Mudogo, for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Shamira Nagudi, 23, a resident of Wagagai Cell, Nkoma Ward in Northern City Division. Nagudi was reportedly stabbed in the stomach on Friday night following a domestic dispute. According to authorities, Kaziba accused her of infidelity, which led to a violent confrontation.
After the incident, residents rushed Nagudi to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, but she died on the way due to excessive bleeding. Yahaya Were, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Northern City Division, said Kaziba suspected the deceased of having other lovers, which triggered the altercation that resulted in her death. He confirmed that the victim was murdered using a knife.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Elgon Region Police Spokesperson Rogers Taitika confirmed Kaziba’s arrest, noting that he is currently detained at Mbale Central Police Station. Taitika said investigations have been completed and that police have gathered sufficient evidence to present in court for murder charges. He urged married and cohabiting couples to seek help from the police, religious leaders, and local authorities to resolve misunderstandings instead of resorting to violence.
