Police in Mbale City’s Industrial Division are holding a man accused of scalding his wife using acid. The suspect is Rajabu Masaba, 29, a resident of Namasaba IV lower cell in Namabasa Ward Mbale City Industrial Division.
Julius Muchuma, the Namasaba IV lower cell Defense Secretary, explains that Masaba separated a bedroom with his wife, Aisha Nabwire, 19, last month after suspecting her of going out with other men. He, however, says that on Sunday night, Masaba poured acid on Nabwire while having sex with another man in her room.
The unidentified man managed to get away unharmed. Nabwire sustained serious burns on the stomach, face chest, and neck. She was admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition. Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region police spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying Masaba is in custody at Mbale central police station.
He says that Masaba will appear in court on charges of attempted murder once the ongoing police investigations are complete. Taitika has urged married couples to desist from extramarital affairs to avoid similar incidents.
