Dokolo health center iV

Overview:

‎Barbara Akech, the Dokolo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), announced the suspension of the mortuary services, saying that once the expansion works are concluded, it will be operationalized.

Dokolo district authorities have temporarily suspended mortuary services at Dokolo HCIV for a period of one month to allow expansion works.

The current mortuary is too small to fit in a fridge that has a capacity to store a maximum of 8 bodies, thus inadequate for a facility that has a growing demand for mortuary services.

‎Barbara Akech, the Dokolo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), announced the suspension of the mortuary services, saying that once the expansion works are concluded, it will be operationalized.

The new facility will include a dedicated room for conducting postmortem examinations, which previously had to be done in a squeezed area, a separate room for dressing and placing the body in the coffin, as well as a water connection into the mortuary.

Dr. Emmanuel Odur, the In-Charge of Dokolo HCIV, believes that the new facility will provide enough space for operation, ensuring the dignity of the deceased, and thus satisfactory services to the community. ‎“The old facility caused inconvenience and delays for both the staff and families of the deceased. With the new facility, this will no longer be a problem,” he explained.

‎‎According to him, the exit road will also be opened to avoid any interference with the health center’s operations and ambulance services. ‎Meanwhile, Musafiri Suwed, the Dokolo District spokesperson, advised community members to seek mortuary services from neighboring districts as the facility undergoes rehabilitation to ensure smooth service delivery.

Dokolo, as a district, has only one HCIV, which the authorities demand should be upgraded to the level of a district hospital in order to improve services.
