The Alliance for National Transformation-ANT presidential candidate, Mugisha Muntu, says if Ugandans entrust him with their vote, his leadership will first prioritize reconstructing the Education, Health, and Agriculture sectors.

He says the three sectors are interlinked and their performance has a great impact on the lives of ordinary Ugandans.

Muntu says his government would study and deploy the national health insurance scheme to enable every Ugandan to access better health services.

He explained that many Ugandans are unable to access proper medical care simply because the government has surrendered this service to private practitioners.

He notes that any country that doesn’t prioritize a good health system automatically sends its citizens to poverty as they have to toil to meet medical expenses.

He says the scheme would pool funds into one envelope to create better and affordable health care.

On agriculture, the presidential candidate says he will focus on having a farmer’s bank to enable farmers to access credit at a reasonably low interest rate.

He added that he will also prioritize awareness on proper feeding for all Ugandans, noting that many people are sick as a result of being uninformed on healthy eating patterns.

Muntu says education is the greatest wealth worldwide that sets the pace for human capital development, while critiquing the current government for not prioritizing teachers’ demands and letting the education standards collapse.

He wonders how private institutions in the country can do better than those set up by the government.

He noted that education, coupled with good leadership, can set the country on a new phase.

On Monday, Muntu campaigned in Bunyangabu District.  He urged the voters to elect leaders who will prioritize family development.

He noted that all three fundamental priorities have failed under the current regime due to rampant corruption.

He also decried rampant extortion of the job seekers, saying the failure by the current leadership to address the vice is a clear signal that it is not in touch with the common man.

Muntu noted that once the agriculture, health, and education sectors are addressed, it will address the long-standing demands of Tooro, notably the industrial park, roads, among others. On Tuesday, the presidential candidate will be in Bundibugyo and Ntoroko Districts.
