President Yoweri Museveni hosted a special luncheon in Entebbe to honor Ugandan Muslims who recently completed the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, marking the fulfillment of the fifth pillar of Islam.
During the event, President Museveni congratulated the graduates for undertaking the sacred journey, emphasizing the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage. “We celebrate your achievement and your commitment to faith,” he said.
The President reaffirmed the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) dedication to supporting initiatives that help Muslims who cannot afford the journey themselves.
He urged community leaders to develop a transparent and fair plan for selecting future pilgrims, ensuring that competition is minimized while fairness is maintained.
On the topic of poverty alleviation, Museveni addressed concerns regarding RIBA and the acceptance of PDM funds.
“Those who are concerned should not worry,” he said. “This money belongs to you and will circulate within your community; it will not return to the government.”
The luncheon brought together religious leaders and community representatives, highlighting the government’s continued efforts to promote social and religious support programs for Ugandans.
