Muslims across Uganda are this morning gathering at mosques and open prayer grounds to mark Eid al-Fitr, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In Kampala and other parts of the country, worshippers have started arriving in large numbers at designated prayer venues in Old Kampala, Kibuli and several major mosques and open grounds.
Organisers are also seen making final preparations, including arranging prayer spaces and coordinating crowd movement ahead of the prayers expected shortly.
In prayers that preceded the day’s celebration, religious leaders called on Muslims to uphold the values of unity, gratitude, compassion, and discipline cultivated during Ramadan.
They urged continued support for the vulnerable through acts of charity, particularly the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, which ensures that even the less privileged can partake in the celebrations.
Security personnel have been deployed in key areas to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration as the country joins the global Muslim community in observing Eid al-Fitr.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, symbolising spiritual renewal, forgiveness, and a sense of community.
The day is expected to continue with family visits, feasting, and acts of goodwill, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness that defines the festival. URN
