The National Medical Stores (NMS), in coordination with security agencies, successfully foiled an attempted robbery at one of its rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe on Tuesday night.
In a statement, the Principal Public Relations Officer, Sheilla Nduhukire, said the attempted theft was swiftly detected by NMS security teams working jointly with the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force, leading to the interception of the suspects before any medical supplies could be lost.
“The area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure to allow security agencies to conduct their investigations. There was no loss of medical supplies as the suspects were intercepted with the supplies on site,” Nduhukire said.
She added that two suspects sustained injuries during the operation and are currently recovering in hospital, while three others were arrested and remain in custody.
Nduhukire further assured the public that operations at NMS remain uninterrupted.
“NMS continues to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities and remains committed to safeguarding our personnel, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain,” she said, while thanking security agencies for their swift response and professionalism.
