The family of Dr. John Spire Kiggundu has dismissed harmful disinformation surrounding his sudden passing, clarifying the circumstances of his death to counter false narratives circulating online.

News of Kiggundu’s death made rounds on Sunday with reports claiming he was shot dead after being kidnapped on Saturday evening after leaving his workplace.

But in a statement issued by Spire Ssentongo the brother to the deceased gynaecologist, the family refuted claims that he was shot and dumped in a trench, kidnapped, or killed for political or other reasons.

According to Spire, a credible post-mortem report has confirmed that Dr. Kiggundu died of a heart attack and was discovered a day after his passing.

“The post-mortem report (credibly done) shows that he died of a heart attack and was only found a day after,” Spire says in a statement.

The family also addressed rumors of a business relationship between Dr. Kiggundu and Owek. Peter Mayiga, stating that the two had no such ties.

Spire explains that Owek. Mayiga was merely a chief guest at the launch of Henrob Hospital in 2020, a facility Kiggundu founded and built through years of dedication.

The hospital, named after his sons Henry and Robert, began as a one-room clinic in 2003 and grew into a reputable medical institution under his leadership.

Ssentongo urged the public to disregard false information that could incite unnecessary harm or hatred and called for respect to allow Dr. Kiggundu to rest in peace.

Authorities have not commented on the disinformation, but the family’s statement aims to set the record straight and promote healing during this period of grief.
