A couple of dozens of female opposition members of Parliament have been manhandled on Thursday morning by police as they protested against security Forces’ brutality on Ugandans.
The legislators clad in black gomas attires had planned to march from Parliament to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to petition the line Minister on ‘new wave’ of brutality meted on not only ordinary Ugandans but members of Parliament and opposition politicians by police and other security agencies.

However, their plans were cut shot when men and women in police uniform armed with guns and batons rounded them up just outside Parliament’s main gate.
During the scuffle, the lawmakers were forced into waiting police drones where some were heard pleading with the law enforcement officers not to manhandle them.

Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament says: “After bundling the MPs into a police drone, the rogue officers are pepper spraying them.”
The protest comes days after a brutal attack by police on Suzan Nakaziba Mugabi, the Buvuma Woman MP during the belated Women’s Day celebrations in Kyanja Village, Bwema Sub-county in Buvuma District.
A video, which went viral on social media, showed people dressed in police attire kicking, subduing and beating the member of Parliament who sustained injuries.
