Parliamentary diplomacy and bilateral cooperation took center stage on Monday as Speaker of Parliament Anita Among met with South Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Park Sung-Soo, and a delegation of lawmakers from the Korean National Assembly.

During the meeting at Parliament, Speaker Among applauded South Korea for its longstanding strategic partnership with Uganda, highlighting key contributions in health, education, water, and sanitation.

“We encourage you to remain good friends of Uganda. As we strengthen parliamentary and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, let us also work together to invest more in the health sector for sustainable development,” Among said.

Ambassador Park welcomed Uganda’s commitment to closer ties and proposed that Kampala establish an embassy in Seoul to further enhance diplomatic engagement. Speaker Among pledged to follow up the proposal with Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Uganda and South Korea have maintained warm diplomatic relations since 1963, with development cooperation continuing to grow across various sectors.
