At least 1,000 acres of trees, including pine and eucalyptus, have been destroyed by bushfires, leaving owners counting their losses. The fires also ravaged several banana plantations in the region.

The most affected farmers are located in the sub-counties of Kakooge, Katuugo, and Nabiswera. Reports indicate that a series of bushfires broke out from Monday to Friday this week, burning tree plantations owned by approximately 10 individuals and companies.

The most affected company is Nile Fibreboard Limited, which specializes in wood and lost over 100 hectares of pine and eucalyptus trees.

URN presents a pictorial showing the extensive damage caused by the bushfires, which are believed to have been started by pastoralists in preparation for the rainy season.
