Police investigation tape

Police in Mityana district have started investigating the disappearance of two infant children.

According to the Wamala region Police Spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi, they got reports on two children stolen from different places, on a newly born baby.

SSP Kigozi said that Edith Ndiyomufasha a resident of Serunyonyi village, Kalangaalo subcounty in Mityana  district was organizing her luggage after being discharged from Mityana general hospital maternity ward where she had given birth to a baby girl two days ago when an unknown woman in the hospital befriended her and offered to help her carry the baby as she organized her luggage. Ndiyomufasha handed the baby to the stranger whose intention she didn’t even suspect was to steal the baby.

SSP Kigozi added that it was only after organizing her luguage that Ndiyomufasha realized that the stranger had fled with the baby.

Another case of child stealing on the very day was received from Nantume Sarah a resident of Kitinkokola A cell South Ward Ttamu division of Mityana Municipality.

Nantume had left her child Nasuuna Blessing a female juvenile of 3 years with her sister Nakachwa Prossy aged 6 years in the house and went to catch grasshoppers. When she came back to the house, she found only one child, Nakachwa. She says Nasuuna Blessing who had also been in the house has up-to-date not recovered.

SSP Kigozi said that the two cases are registered as CRB1156/2025 and CRB1159/2025 of Mityana Central police station as  investigation are being conducted urgently with the aid of closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) especially for the hospital incident, but no break through has been made as yet for the recovery of these babies infants

SSP Lameck appealed to the general public in Mityana who could be having any information valuable in supporting their investigations which could lead to the recovery of these babies to assist them with such information as it will be kept confidential.
