The Former Attorney General Fred Ruhindi has been declared the winner of Nakawa East Constituency Parliamentary flag bearer  for National Resistance Movement within the internal party structures. 

Ruhindi  was declared winner of Nakawa East NRM Primaries for  Constituency flag bearer with 91 percent,  translating to 8,619 Votes and his rival Ssegirinya David Kintu has obtained 839 votes. 

Relatedly, former Rubaga Deputy Resident Commissioner  Herbert Anderson Burora has also been declared the winner of the Nakawa West flag. 

Burora was declared winner with 3,075 votes with 51 percent, Nantongo Margaret Zziwa the former EALA Speaker 1,972 translating to 33 percent, Ivan Kabeedha 496 votes  translating to 8 percent, Herbert Ssenyonjo 312 votes that is 5 percent, while Shukla Mukesh has trailed the group with 108 votes 

The winners were announced by Sharifah Namwaase NRM District Registrar at around 9pm amidst heavy tight security deployment.

The winners of the NRM primaries will now have to wait and compete with candidates from other political parties in the forth coming 2026 general elections. 

Burora is set to compete with the incumbent Joel Ssenyonyi who is currently the leader of Opposition in Parliament.
