Standard Chartered Uganda has donated assorted food supplies to three Muslim-founded schools in the city as part of its annual Ramadan outreach aimed at supporting communities observing the holy month.
The food packages were delivered in partnership with Salaam Charity and the bank’s client MultiChoice to Jakayz Secondary School in Kabowa, Namasuba, and Asiyah Kids Academy in Kiteezi.

The supplies, which included essential food items used in preparing meals during Ramadan, are intended to support students and staff as they observe daily fasting.
The handover was led by Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Uganda, who visited the schools alongside colleagues from the bank.
Speaking during the outreach, Kigozi said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities during important religious moments.
“Ramadan is a time for introspection, empathy and generosity, and it is also a time to celebrate the rich religious and cultural traditions that define the vibrant communities we work in,” Kigozi said.
She added that the bank values partnerships that help it engage directly with communities.
“At Standard Chartered, we believe in walking alongside our communities during moments that matter most. Through our partnership with Salaam Charity, we have had the opportunity to break fast with various Muslim communities, and we hope this contribution helps make the fasting period a little easier for the beneficiaries,” she said.

The visits also allowed bank staff to interact with students and school leaders, highlighting the importance of education, community solidarity and shared responsibility.
According to the bank, the Ramadan outreach has become an annual initiative and forms part of its broader diversity and inclusion agenda, which aims to support both employees and communities across the country.
Through partnerships with organisations such as Salaam Charity, Standard Chartered Uganda says it will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and promote inclusive growth.

Standard Chartered operates in more than 50 markets globally and says its mission is to drive commerce and prosperity through diversity while supporting the communities.
