A stray Buffalo from Pian-Upe Game Reserve has killed a 39-year-old Man in Kween district.  The victim has been identified as as Stephen Njoran, a resident of Soset Village in Sundet sub-county.

Fredmark Chesang the Police Spokesperson of Sipi region, says that the incident occurred on Wednesday when Njoran and three others were going to a Maize farm and accidentally came in contact with the buffalo.

He explains that preliminary investigations show that, the stray Buffalo has been crossing from the park to the community and hiding in Maize plantations.

“During the police visit to the scene of the crime, locals were alarmed that, the stay animal has been terrorizing the community injuring some of them, although it did not kill” states Chesang.

Kelvin Korir, the chairperson LCI of Sowet Village says that in the past three weeks, the same Buffalo has injured seven people. He expressed the concern that despite several complaints to the Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA)  nothing has been done.

Samuel Amanya, the Chief Warden, of Mt Elgon National Park, said that they are planning to trap the Buffalo and take it back to the game reserve.

Amanya however, asked the community neighboring the game reserve to be vigilant on the wildlife attacks.
