Police have arrested 22-year-old Emmanuel Gaga, a teacher at Hamry Nursery and Primary School in Wanyange Hill, Northern Division, Jinja City, over allegations of sexually abusing an 11-year-old pupil. The incident reportedly occurred on November 8, 2025, when Gaga allegedly lured the pupil to his rented room in Musiima Cell.

Police allege that the suspect forced the child to perform household chores before sexually assaulting him multiple times. The survivor is currently receiving treatment at a private health facility and is reported to be in pain and traumatized. A neighbor alerted police after the victim escaped from the suspect’s room.

Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson James Mubi confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is detained at Kakira Central Police Station on charges of aggravated homosexuality, contrary to Sections 2(1) and 3(1)(2)(a)(e) of the Anti-Homosexuality Act. Mubi said Gaga has undergone medical examinations, confirming his mental fitness, and investigations are ongoing.

Mubi appealed to parents and guardians to remain vigilant, saying: “Parents are the number one guarantors of their children’s safety. Entrusting children entirely to others can compromise their well-being. Children should be given the space to raise concerns about any red flags.” Police are calling on the public to report any suspicious behavior affecting children to ensure swift action.
