Adjumani police are holding three people in connection with campaign-related violence, including malicious damage to three motor vehicles during a clash between rival campaign teams. Collins Asea, the North Nile region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said a case of Malicious Damage, Assault, and Video Recording has been opened under Reference: Adj CRB 719/2025.

According to Asea, at approximately 1:00 PM on Wednesday, John Anyanzo Ambayo and his campaign team arrived at Jurum East Village for a rally scheduled under the Electoral Commission program. Upon reaching Dzaipi, near the rally site, they encountered a roadblock made of logs, which had been placed by unidentified individuals. The team cleared the logs and proceeded to the rally.

However, during the campaign, Ambayo’s team was attacked by supporters of the incumbent LCV candidate, Anyama Ben, also a resident of the area. “Supporters of Mr. Ambayo were stoned, several MV 5 vehicle windows were damaged, and four of his supporters were assaulted,” Asea said.

The affected vehicles include UA 566AZ, UA 356BE, UBF 098T, UBF 956F, and UBG 918H. Three suspects were apprehended and handed over to the police, with victims and exhibits evacuated to the Central Police Station in Adjumani. The suspects are currently detained at CPS Adjumani while investigations continue. Adjumani is considered an election hotspot in West Nile due to its proximity to South Sudan, a significant refugee population, and longstanding border conflicts with neighboring Amuru district.
