Three people have died in separate road accidents across the Kigezi sub-region within a span of two days.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday night, April 22, 2026, at around 9:30 p.m. at Kabaraga Village in Kyanamira Sub-county, Kabale District, along the Kabale–Ntungamo Highway.

Alfred Turyatunga was knocked dead by an unidentified motor vehicle.It is alleged that Turyatunga and others had confronted a tricycle rider they suspected of stealing a tricycle and iron sheets he was transporting.

During the ensuing scuffle, as they chased the rider, Turyatunga reportedly fell into the middle of the road and was struck by a speeding vehicle.

The driver did not stop after the crash.In a separate incident on Thursday evening, April 23, 2026, at about 5:43PM, a boda boda rider identified as Wilex Kyomukama, a resident of Kibimbiri Parish in Kihihi Sub-county, Kanungu District, was found dead following a suspected crash at Kiruruma Bridge, which borders Matanda Parish and Nyamirama Sub-county.

Kyomukama’s Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFL 906L, was discovered at the scene with bloodstains.

He was reportedly traveling from Kanungu to Rukungiri at the time of the accident.

A local resident, Alfred Mubangyizi, says Kyomukama may have been involved in the accident while attempting to cross the damaged bridge over River Kiruruma, which collapsed on March 17, 2026, following heavy rains and flooding.

The third incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, at around 9:00PM. at Muko Market boda boda stage in Habutobere Village, Muko Sub-county, Rubanda District, along the Kabale–Kisoro Road.

Alex Ahimbisibwe was knocked dead by a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFR 712N, ridden by an unidentified person. It is alleged that the rider was traveling towards Kabale from Kisoro when he lost control at Muko Market and rammed into the boda boda stage, hitting Ahimbisibwe.

The victim died on the spot, and the rider fled the scene.Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirms the incidents, stating that investigations are ongoing. URN
